Description
This is the Battery Reuben Turman at Fort Casey State Park. It was named after 2nd Lieutenant Reuben Turman who died in Cuba during the Spanish American War. This battery was designed to protect the Straight of Juan De Fuca and the Admiralty Inlet to Puget Sound. This housed two, 5" M1897 rifles mounted on M1896 balanced pillar carriages until 1918.
